Introduction

Psychologists have long been concerned predominantly with human behaviourism and why people act the way they do. In an era when the environment seems to be a major topic due to issues such as climate change and pollution, psychologists have started contributing towards tackling environmental issues. Environmental psychology hence seeks to find out how psychology can bring about change and help solve environmental challenges. In this essay, contemporary environmental psychology will be used analyse and describe some of the factors that prevent (or deter) people from engaging in pro-environmental behaviours and solutions to them.
